National Child Day in Peel

Tiny Ambassador for Children's Rights

Tyler Hoang is a tiny new ambassador for the Peel Children’s Charter of Rights. Born at 12:18 a.m. on Friday, November 20, Tyler received a special gift to celebrate his birthday and National Child Day in Peel. His mom and dad, Kim Tran and Wayne Hoang welcomed Charter committee members, Shelagh Karstoff and Josephine Bau, at the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga. They presented the family with a gift, offered their congratulations and discussed the importance of children’s rights.

“We wish Tyler and his parents much happiness. Nothing brings joy more than our children,” said Shelagh Karstoff, chair of the Peel Children’s Charter of Rights Committee. “With that joy comes responsibility and we hope that all adults will take the time to learn more about the fundamental rights of children.”

On National Child Day, Friday November 20, Peel Children’s Charter of Rights Committee members visited the Trillium Health Centre and Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga and the William Osler Health Centre in Brampton. They dropped of gifts for babies born that day or just before or after. Each child received a diaper shirt printed with the Charter of Rights and welcome letter and poster. Parents received information about children’s rights. This is the second year the Charter committee has delivered the birthday gifts on National Child Day in Peel.
